“Growing up, I was put in a difficult position where someone really close to me had a problem with addiction. That is why I come off as happy all the time … I’m afraid of the darkness that I saw. I’m afraid of going back there.”

“Laughing and smiling is a coping mechanism for me in a lot of ways,” she added.
