Reinaldo Peraza, aged 40, has been taken into custody following accusations of stalking and assaulting a woman in Miami-Dade County.
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – On Monday, law enforcement officials arrested Reinaldo Peraza after the victim reported to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office that he had been persistently stalking her and had physically assaulted her.
According to the arrest documentation, the victim reached out to deputies on Saturday after experiencing a disturbing incident while resting in her bed at her residence on Palmetto Club Drive. She reported that she was abruptly awakened by a loud noise and simultaneously struck in the face by Peraza.
The victim recounted witnessing Peraza’s body protruding through her bedroom window as he shouted obscenities and seized her two mobile phones.
The report indicates that the victim asserted Peraza, who resides in Miami Gardens, had been stalking her for a duration of one and a half weeks, with the situation reportedly worsening over time.
Authorities noted that there were two previous police reports filed against him by the victim, one of which occurred in the City of Miami, also alleging stalking behavior.
Additionally, the report detailed that the victim received over 20 consecutive messages and phone calls from Peraza. She alleged that he even spent nights on her roof to monitor her activities.
On Sunday, the victim contacted authorities once more to inform them that Peraza had entered her yard and knocked on her son’s window in an attempt to provide him with money. He subsequently fled the scene when the victim returned home, as stated in the report.
Peraza was later found by deputies at a nearby laundromat and was brought to a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office station for interrogation. During questioning, he reportedly became uncooperative and combative, necessitating his being subdued and handcuffed.
He now faces multiple charges, including burglary with assault or battery, grand theft, resisting an officer without violence, and stalking.
Details regarding the nature of the relationship between Peraza and the victim were not disclosed in the arrest report.
As of Tuesday, Peraza remains detained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, with his bond status marked as “to be set.”
