A wave of break-ins has struck Lancaster once again, with masked men spotted trespassing on private property.
Surge in Home and Car Burglaries
Over the past week, multiple reports have surfaced of masked individuals breaking into homes, garages, and vehicles—sometimes in broad daylight while residents were home. A concerned resident shared images on Facebook, some appearing to be from a trail camera, warning neighbors about the alarming trend.
According to the post, police were called over the weekend in response to sightings of masked men roaming through backyards.
“Stay vigilant, Lancaster. Masked men dressed in black have been spotted throughout the area. They’re stealing cars, entering garages, and even going into homes to take purses and keys—all while people are inside.”
Brazen Theft in Broad Daylight
One particularly unsettling incident occurred near Lancaster High School around 7:30 a.m., when four masked men reportedly entered a driveway and stole two cars. The crime took place in full daylight, adding to residents’ unease.
Stolen Cars Often Found Damaged
A dedicated online group helps track stolen vehicles in Western New York, but the recovered cars are often damaged or abandoned. One recent case involved a car stolen from a work parking lot—police found it within hours, but the keys had been left inside.
Authorities continue to urge residents to take precautions: lock doors, secure valuables, and never leave keys inside vehicles.
