A Texas couple has been arrested after allegedly shooting the father of their son’s teenage girlfriend during a heated argument over whether the teens should be allowed to date.
Argument Turns Violent
Luther Madison II, 39, is accused of shooting the father of his son’s girlfriend after his wife, Angelica Madison, also 39, allegedly handed him the gun, according to a statement by Harris County Constable Mark Herman.
Police responded to an aggravated assault call on March 17 in the 24400 block of Osprey Point Drive, where witnesses reported two men “fighting on the street” before gunfire erupted. Officers arrived to find the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Dispute Over Teen Romance Escalates
The victim told police that he and his wife had met with the Madisons to ask for their help in keeping their son away from their daughter, whom they believed was “too young to be dating.”
However, the discussion quickly escalated into a physical fight between the two fathers. During the altercation, Angelica allegedly pulled out a gun and handed it to Luther, who then shot the victim before pointing the weapon at the victim’s wife and threatening her.
Arrests and Charges
The victim was airlifted to a hospital, though his current condition remains unknown.
Luther and Angelica Madison were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. Both face two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
