Governor Kathy Hochul has signed new legislation aimed at further protecting healthcare professionals who prescribe abortion medication in New York.
In February, Hochul approved a law removing the names of healthcare providers from prescription bottles for abortion medications like mifepristone and misoprostol.
On Saturday, she took an additional step by signing legislation that eliminates clinic addresses from these prescriptions.
“There have been too many cases where abortion clinics and doctors’ offices have been targets of violence and harassment. We have to stand up for them and the women of New York,” Hochul said in a video statement.
This latest measure comes in response to efforts by Louisiana officials to extradite a New York-based doctor who prescribed FDA-approved abortion medication via telehealth.
