A 36-year-old San Bernardino man was taken into custody after authorities discovered over 15,000 fentanyl pills, marijuana, cash, and multiple firearms in his possession.
On March 19, 2025, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) and the Kern County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force (KC-HIDTA) executed a search warrant in the 2000 block of Magdelena Avenue in Bakersfield, concluding a narcotics investigation.
During the search, officers seized more than 15,000 fentanyl-laced M-30 pills, processed marijuana, numerous firearms—including a stolen handgun—along with a substantial amount of cash and jewelry suspected to be linked to drug proceeds.
Authorities identified the suspect as Juan Jose Chavez, who was at his home with his family when officers found the illicit drugs, weapons, and money. The Kern County Probation Department and the California Highway Patrol K-9 Unit assisted in the operation.
Chavez was booked into the Lerdo Justice Facility on multiple charges, including possession of fentanyl, possession with intent to sell, possession of a loaded firearm while in possession of a controlled substance, child endangerment, and possession of a stolen handgun.
